Тhe client came with completed architectural plans by Woodley Architectural Group for a new construction residence, where the primary focus was openness, panoramic glazing and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape.
My role was to shape an interior that felt equally distinctive, sculptural in moments, warm in experience and refined in restraint – while allowing the architecture and views to remain the true focal points.
The challenge was to create presence and personality without competing with the natural beauty outside or the clean contemporary structure of the home. One of the key design challenges was connecting the main kitchen with the secondary kitchen through a custom 8-foot sliding stone backsplash between the two rooms. This feature allows the spaces to function independently or together, enabling the homeowners to see one another and communicate while cooking in separate kitchens. It also creates a highly practical flow for entertaining and larger gatherings.
Additional challenges included selectively moving and reconfiguring walls in certain rooms and bathrooms, while introducing custom niches to improve circulation, functionality and visual appearance. Each adjustment was carefully integrated into the overall architectural language of the home so that every space felt intentional and cohesive.
Through layered materials, curated forms, custom millwork and intentional visual rhythm, the result became a residence that feels sophisticated, elevated and seamlessly connected to its setting.
